Congrats at fixing that - its always nice to overcome these hiccups with relative ease.

And it's certainly frustrating when a Guide 'disappears'. We get so used to them and then someone pulls the rug...YellYell

All the best - and you'll love a twin tuner setup even more, when you get it!

hi guys, sorry for not updating. I've recently been running the guide from my media PC which has died due to a hardware issue.

Unfortunately I don't have time to fix right at the moment. Also since I hardly watch any broadcast tv these days there's a possibility I might not bother running a PC anymore.

With the development of EPG Collector It's now much easier than it was a few years ago to get guide data, so I would encourage anyone with a sat dish to go and get a DVB-S card and share your guide file with others. Just stick the file in dropbox and share the URL. You only need an email address to create a dropbox account so it's pretty easy to do anonymously if you're worried about that. In my experience as long as you don't draw unnecessary attention to yourself (eg by publishing a website) you won't run into any issues with the TV companies. I actually never (ever) published a link to my guide data anywhere, I just told a few mates, who told a few mates etc and at some stage people posted the link on a few forums etc. I was totally cool with this of course but I never actually set out to provide a guide service that heaps of people would come to rely on! Having said that I feel bad about letting you down, so I'm hoping some of you good people can pick up the service!

Thanks for the epg over the years haventech - it's been hugely appreciated in our household. This has been the push I needed to get onto EPG Collector once and for all and after a very late night tinkering last night I have it up and running.

yep thanks heaps haventech, i used it for almost a year since i arrived in the country, ive now made that little application that will give people a freeview guide to replace your guide so thats a start, i cant help with skytv guide for people as i dont have sky nor can i afford it.

but you did us all a good service for free, so i highly appreciate it.

in saying that, if someone with sky wants to email me their guide every week or so i can make my app use their guide to pass onto others so the person doesnt need to upload it anywhere and risk themselves getting a complaint letter.

...Dropbox, that would be ideal. While I do have it, I rarely use it as I haven't had the need. Definitely food for thought now though.

And thanks for the feed over the years Haven - its been much appreciated.

Another thanks from me Haventech.

By the way phrunt you don't need a sky sub to get the sky guide as it is unencrypted. You just need a dish and a dvb-s tuner card

Sorry, late to the party and on mobile so didn't read the whole thread yet... But why not just use EPG Collector instead of writing a new software?

well my tuner arrived, it isn't a qbox like was advertised its a qqbox, some sort of fake.  It doesn't work with win7, just crashes mce when i try.  I tried it with vista and its drivers install i tried using progdvb to scan for channels, it gets a level of 90% but no signal on any channels, i dont know if im doing it wrong i've never done anything with satellite tv before.  I tried epgcollector and selected nz freeview and run it but it comes back with an error 13, no guide downloaded... im puzzled.. i think my tuner was a bad buy

I did notice that the guy conveniently ignored your question asking whether or not it would work on win7...

Hmm, it looks like this is a common cheapy. Huge thread here. It may have a PID filter which prevents the TS data from being received in the application unless the application knows how to control it properly. It is possibly a lost cause for WMC, but I'd be interested to have a go at getting it working in MediaPortal if you want to get rid of it.

well its now working with progdvb, picks up all the freeview channels fine and i can watch tv on vista with it now.  I had no luck with Windows 7, it just refuses to work but the driver says its fine, win7 media center goes VERY SLOW with its channel scanning, takes over an hour and finds nothing.  I haven't been able to get EPGCollector to get any guide data, exits with error 13.  I need to sort out EPG collector as thats the reason I bought it, not to watch tv.

Any help appreciated, maybe its my ini file, does someone have a preconfigured EPG collector INI file I can use to get freeview's epg?

Thanks
