munchkin: From that list, it looks as if I would actually be better off buying a PS3 in North America (especially as they pay less than we do for the console ad movies) - luckily I'm going over there soon. I'm going to have to definitely think this one through.

That's what I did. $499(US) for the 60G model which is now no longer sold. They have the 40G and 80G now available. I just put the entire box in a suitcase, packed some clothes around it and checked it in. Arrived safely and for the best thing is, despite having a 110V note about voltage on the back, in fact it's world wide voltage. So no transformer required.  And the best thing was, it came with 5 free BR titles via redemption so I could get started on my library.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

It works out cheaper for me to get on in Canada at NZ$513 + tax, and the 5 free movies deal is valid there, too.

At least with the games side of things (if I ever decided to get any here) they would be region free.

Edit: All of the accessories seem to be far cheaper there than they are here.

Amazon has it for $399(US) for the 40G and $499 for the 80G - both prices including shipping and tax. This is where I got mine and of course had it shipped to a friend's house.

Hmmm. Sounds tempting.
