Yes, both Mini-DSP and PE ship here. For sure PE, but I believe that you can get shipping quoted directly on both web sites.

I was curious on shipping costs so I checked. The solstice are currently out of stock. I checked the shipping costs for a pair of the Tri-Trix tower kits. This kit, much like the solstice kit, includes all pre-cut CNC panels. So, you would not have to spin a saw @ all. Just clamps and glue. Anyhow, the quoted shipping cost to NZ was $150USD. The penalty in buying pre-assembled tower speakers here is going to be much more than that!

On those Rythmic subs. Great servo control system from what I have heard. I used a 12" Velodyne servo system for a while and it had surprising output for it's size. Here is an alternative.....even if you are not comfortable with a saw:

2 x 15" Ultimax kits (complete with CNC cut panels) and a MiniDSP 2x4 shipped to NZ $1075 USD or $1641 NZD (@ the moment)

1 x Behringer NX3000 (220v) sourced here in NZ $600NZD

Dual sealed 15" subs, full and independent dsp, Just under 1kwatt rms apiece, nothing but glue/clamps/paint totaling about $2241 NZD. So, how much were the Rythmic subs going to run you?

I saw that rhythmic sub on trademe for $2300 or so and was very tempted, unfortunately the wife said no, After I had been looking at the pb12-nsd for a grand less And subsequently missing the boat on those because they are no longer on NZ websites.

I didn't even bother asking haha, I knew the answer already. As nice as they are, the price is still a bit too much I reckon. A brand new one from Rythmik with a warranty ends up at around the same price USD->NZD, and add maybe a couple hundred for shipping. Then again, as Allan said, for less than price of both of those, you could probably DIY 4 x 15" subs... in saying that, I'd be interested to give Rythmik subs a go, as the direct servo tech sounds interesting.

With the PB12-NSD gone, there really isn't a budget-hero sub (well, at least as far as the NZ market goes) anymore. A PB-1000 does alright, but will be swallowed up by most rooms bigger than a shoe box. A PB-2000 Pro is where it starts getting serious, but the price is just silly money from there and upwards really when compared to some of the other ID companies in the States.

Local prices are getting to the point where if I had to buy another COTS product, I'd probably just blind-import it and hope for the best. Quite a few places seem to be happy to ship internationally now.

Case-in-point: I had been looking at some Emotiva amps direct from them; it was $400 NZD shipped (+ ~$49 tax, wasn't sure how that was going to work from a low volume supplier) with a full warranty vs. $549 for the same product here, who probably have to order it direct from Emotiva anyway. I'm all for supporting NZ businesses, but the ole' 5x markup from manufacturer->importer/distributor->retailer model needs to die in a fire if they want the lower end of the market to survive globalization.

Oh, I'm right there with you buddy. I'm too miserly to be an "audiophile", and sharpening the fine point on the gain (gear) vs. pain (money) graph is my jam.

Unfortunately the other half isn't too keen... yet.
