My Arc soundbar and sub arrived today.  The setup was super simple to add to the existing One SL's in the lounge and turn those into rear speakers.  Holy moly, this setup ROCKS.  I have only tested a little bit with some Atmos scenes of Mandalorian and some Marvel movies, but far out it's amazing quality audio.  Can't wait to play some Miles Morales on it tonight on the PS5 🤤

I replaced my Playbar with an Arc earlier this week - to go with existing Sub and Sonos Ones as rear surrounds. You’re right - it sounds brilliant.

Unfortunately the PS5 doesn’t support Atmos unless it’s playing a Blu-Ray or Ultra BR disc - but it does support a thing called 3D Sound. Maybe Atmos support in games will come at a later date.

Out of interest, does the Arc have drivers on the left and right sides of the soundbar? I have built in entertainment cabinetry at my place which means that any soundbar has to be placed in an enclosed space so anything with drivers angled at more than 45 degrees is a no-go.

It has eleven speakers including two in the ends firing left and right and two firing upwards for the vertical Atmos effect - bouncing sound off the ceiling. For that reason it works best with a flat (not angled) ceiling and standard stud height.

If you put it in an enclosed space I guess you’re cramping its style and ruling out a lot of Atmos. It’s designed to sit on an entertainment unit or shelf - or can be wall-mounted. I have ours on a unit below the wall-mounted TV, pulled out a little in front of the lower edge of the TV - so that whatever sound is directed towards the ceiling can get there without going up behind the TV or being blocked by the TV.

I have an angled ceiling but honestly the quality is still excellent and with Atmos content the directional sound is very distinguishable. The latest episode of The Mandalorian was like being in a cinema. My lounge isn't huge so that probably helps. Some PS5 last night was also excellent even if it's not true Atmos.

I've been listening to some music this afternoon and the problem is I'm finding vibration points in my house but the Sonos gear it's clean and clear at all volumes!

Thanks. Unfortunately that rules it out for me because there is nowhere to wall mount it.

Still, I'm pretty happy with the Playbase that I'm using currently.

So yesterday I went and had a short audition with the Sonos Move and Sonos One SL. Both left me quite underwhelmed.  They seemed to distort at surprisingly low volumes, though obviously, the Move was able to handle better.

I think I get better sound out of my UE MegaBoom, which cost a fraction of the money. Does that surprise people familiar with Sonos gear?

I did similar listened to a pair of Sonos One (Gen 2s) pretty much went in to buy them at the time.  Just couldnt get enthused with the audio.  I realise space comes into but there was a Klipsch Three next door to it that I thought sounded better.  I settled on a Riva Festival (started with one now have several) as the ability to use Google Chromecast was important - it sounds great at full volume, its also got Optical, USB, Airplay, DLNA, Bluetooth I've only casted to it aond used optical input so cant comment on the rest. Only negative is it can be a little boomy - portable its not and it weighs more than it looks but I also have an aging UE Megaboom for gardening tasks.

I see your looking at the Audio Pro C10 they did seem good may have gone with a Drumfire if it supported google cast.

Sonos are releasing a lower cost Arc in North America which drops the microphone. You save money, plus you don't have to sign up to 24/7 corporate surveillance of your home, so a win-win in my book.

I just didn't add a voice assistant.  Easy.

That will slay the voice activated version.

I wonder when this will turn up in NZ?

Guy at HN told me they weren't expecting any more shipments of the existing Arc until late 2021 early 2022.  Not sure how legit that was but there you go.

Early 2022?

I don't know if a manufacturer knows what they're doing 6 months ahead with this current climate... let alone an entire year!

That's what he said, who knows if it's true. But given I've been waiting for my TV for nearly 4 months I wouldn't be surprised if he is right.

Just stumbled across this - for anyone who has their Sonos Arc wall-mounted (or is thinking of doing that). How to disable the non-optional automatic EQ adjustment enforced by the Sonos wall mount. This guy is informative but also amusing with a great style.

Thanks for posting. My arc is sitting on top of my entertainment unit and will probably stay there. I'm super happy with it too, after a few weeks of use I'm consistently impressed with its performance.
