joker97: no not for the power output but for the even spread of bass. the very long wavelength of low frequencies can create bass holes and if you turn it up the hole dont fill you get bass booms instead

As a side note, I'd make sure whatever BluRay player you buy, is easy to connect to the net for your folks. That way you can set 'auto update' onto 'on' for them, so they never have to worry about keeping on top of firmware updates etc.
