clowg: Is there a description of what benefits OpenTV gives over MHEG5 for NZ users anywhere?

Was actually going to post exactly the same thing - including EIT.
If it could cover what is collected for Satellite / Terrestrial would be great.

You can't replace MHEG5 with OpenTV.

MHEG5 is broadcast by only by Freeview and OpenTV is for Pay TV only.

So if you watch Freeview you cant collect the EPG via OpenTV ... even tho most (isnt it only C42 which isnt on Sky) of the freeview channels are also on SkyTV?

MHEG5 is only broadcast on 12456H and 12483H. There's no OpenTV on those frequencies.

OpenTV is only broadcast on 12519H.

OK Im obviously missing something .... cause I thought since we can scan all frequencies cant we just add that as the frequency to scan or are they encrypted?

If it can be scanned and isnt encrypted ... and therefore is available ... are there advantages / disadvantages to using OpenTV vs MHEG5?

I am going to lock this thread as I think it is now counter-productive to have such a long thread. Please create a suggestions thread and a thread for each different bug.

Hi everyone

We have decided to move the support for EPG Collector from the individual forums we currently monitor in NZ, Australia and the UK to the EPG Collector open discussion forum on Sourceforge which is located here

With around 800 users now and more appearing in different parts of the world it was becoming more and more difficult for us to coordinate support and to make sure users in each country were aware of releases, faults, tips and tricks etc so it makes sense for us to centralise everything in one place.

We can also make use of the Sourceforge bug tracking and enhancement request forums that are available to us.

You will need to create a Sourceforge account if you want to post but it's a fairly painless process. We also suggest you set monitoring on for the forum so you will be notified of any new threads.

If anyone has any concerns or complaints please let us know.
