Demerits aside, the argument that not everyone should have to pay for something only a few want is a good one. Then my question becomes how much does this added convenience actually add to mass production manufacturing cost? Is it really that expensive to include VGA in modern TVs? I wouldn't think so but I don't know. As an aside, I checked the Veon models at the Warehouse yesterday and they do, in fact, have VGA so I guess that makes the discussion somewhat academic.

It is possible that they make the generic (before they stick on the Veon sticker) tv for commercial use where they still plug their advertisement panel to old MS XP with VGA computers

I don't see a conflict between the two, but because I use different devices for different purposes it wouldn't be an issue anyway. For superior quality I have a Sony (with HDMI). No need or wish for VGA here. The TV I do want VGA on doesn't need to be high quality, because it is using VGA! 1080p is kind of wasted if you are set to 1360 x 768.

I wish my veon for gaming on had a 4th hdmi instead of that useless vga plug. Would mean I wouldn't need a hdmi switch for the consoles.

I wish my Sony had more than two HDMI ports. That is really stupid in a modern and otherwise good quality TV.

@Richms The sharpness setting on the whole has not been that bad for the panels I have worked on in the past few years.

Mostly people have enjoyed overall improved panel quality despite choosing or using default settings that deviate from reference standards.

For VGA input, Panasonic have had up until recently pro panel models that allow for user instalment of input type with slot function boards. Unfortunately even they have dropped VGA slot boards, for those who want that now the only option is an external converter box.

Jaycar has this one for example

Me:"I'm not a robot!"

ET: "Maybe; you have some freewill, but you chose your path by arrangement"

Me "That sounds like a program with no freewill?"

ET: "We will catch up when you end this cycle"

Me: "Sounds like a 'KPI'!"
