As would I, and the Konkas and other such house brands. Veon would be the only house brand I'd consider, but then again only if they provided some damn discrete IR input codes!

Yup the JVC 1 year warranty is rubbish. Veons at least have some recourse over 3 years without the retailer pushing back.

Not sure about discrete IR, I've had trouble learning off the included remote for our 19 inch Veon. Haven't tried with the 32s.

Yeah the included physical remote's don't have the required commands on them, so this is not something you can learn unfortunately.

Remotes usually have a 'Source' or 'Input' button, which brings up a menu that you scroll up and down on.

To be totally reliable you really want to be sending a one off command that directs the TV to a specific input, such as hdmi 1, hdmi 2, DTV etc in one hit, not via menu scrolling.

Veons don't appear to be listed in the harmony database, with these discrete input commands unfortunately.

I dont think they will have the commands. The veons remote set seems to be based on button placement from an off the shelf remote control rather than their own command set for it. Thats why you often find with the off brand TVs there there are heaps of code sets that will work for power, since that is almost always top left, and the numbers work but things like the channel up/down and volume up/down might be swapped since they were labeled the other way around, and the small hard to read but essential buttons around things will be all different on those other code sets since they just label them up and then program the control board for the TV to respond in the right way to whatever code it is.

This thread has nearly convinced me to buy a 55" Veon until I looked at the base / feet spacings. Way too wide for my setup which is only 1100mm wide . The Veon would require something like 1250 mm stand. Why can't they do a normal base ??

You can get other stands but they will be about 1/4 the cost of the TV probably. Go on the vesa points and give you height and tilt which the stock stands never seem to let you vary. I think I saw one that came from PB tech, but it wasnt purchased by the guy who had it and he wasnt really sure where the stuff came from

If I bought a new tv, I have two old panny plasma which are great, my only issue is image quality. That's the only thing I want. Do these cheap Veons give that?

I purchased a 55inch 4k Veon about a week ago during the sale...

Tried the Xbox One S on the HDMI 2.0 input and get a blinking/flashing image.

So, if it's the TV it kinda defeats the purpose of being 4k.

Am fine with the tinny sound and lack of smart features, but the reason I chose 4k over Full HD was for, well...4k

The Xbox One S has a pretty good diagnostics page for video from memory. What does it say is going on?

Looks like the problem may be that the Veon doesn't have HDR10, won't be able to upscale to 4k with anything that requires HDR10 such as the One S

I thought the HDR data was just metadata and that if the panel couldn't utilize it, it was just ignored?!?
