Through a sequence of events I now have both a 2017 and a 2019 Shield, the tube specifically.

Are any 2019 owners signed up for the hotfixes? I have been debating if it is stable enough to be worth it, since it is now my primary streaming box, but I really would like to get the fix for some of the minor issues with color space matching, etc; and more annoyingly, audio drop-outs.

I opted in a while back to successfully fix the colour space matching issues primarily. I have keeping up to date with the hotfixes since and haven't had a problem if that helps. Although Nvidia says that there is no way to opt out of the hotfix process, it only lasts until the next major public update. At this point you can opt back in if you want.

I am also on the latest hotfix round with the Shield TV 2019. No issues for me - it has improved the colour space matching

Thanks for the feedback gang, signed up and received the hotfixes yesterday.

Now that I have my harmony remote properly mapped (rut-roah...) and can access the menu, the Match Frame Rate feature is pretty handy. Audio still has the occasional dropout, but not as bad as before. Color space issues seems to be improved, but will have to watch a few more things before I can be sure.

For the price I got it for, I definitely think it was a worthwhile upgrade. While a 2019 Pro would have been nice, it is only for streaming on my main TV, so not too concerned about above and beyond that.

Whoops, I didn't actually get the hotfixes haha. It was just convenient timing for the 8.1.1 general release. Looks good though, seems to have fixed nearly all my issues.

Finally! Looks like local retailers are starting to stock both the 2019 Shield TV and Pro, $299 and $399 respectively. Not exactly rush out and buy prices, but I suppose TV at least is comparable to the ATV4K.

I expect that to go up pretty quickly with the dollar tanking so if you are buying locally I would jump on it ASAP.

Upscaling and DV.

Nah, I don't think so. I only upgraded to the tube because it was going on TM for a good price, but not for the current RRP for either.

The Shield Experience 8.2 update is out now, and brings some neat additions; most notably 2015/2017 models now get the 'Match Frame Rate' option and the 2019 Pro now can use AI Upscaling for up to 60fps content. I guess the Tube can't handle the jandal (sorry @Talkiet!)

An interesting inclusion as well is HDR-to-SDR tone-mapping, which I can imagine might be nice for projector owners.
