I checked with another retailer today regarding the V10 and even got an indication of price. The RRP is about 4700 (how accurate I don't know) for the 50 inch version, nothing showing for the 54 inch version (possibly later?). I will be interested to see how this looks when it arrives around November.

The TH-P50V10Z is finally on the Panasonic web site, but if you compare the V10 versus the G10 you would struggle to find many differences. I assume they will eventually add some of the more relevant details for the V10?

The main difference I believe is the 96Hz refresh rate for true cinema feel when watching Blu-ray discs at 24fps.

Yes that is the main one for me. I think the other is the THX Certification/Mode as well. A bonus, but not absolutely major if the TV is calibrated by someone who knows what they are doing (definitely not me).

Calibration is not that difficult. Just get a hold of a LucasArts DVD or Blu-ray that has the THX Optimizer on it. That should walk you through it.

I am going to look at a G10 42" on Saturday. The 50" G10 is too large and other alternatives as the Sony and Samsung 46".

However, I would like an integrated cabinet like the one that is shown as an extra for the 42" G10.
It appears to have casters but does anyone have one.

I have a 32" Panasonic LCD with integrated cabinet and it is ideal as I need to be able to move the TV through approximately 90 degrees on a regular basis on a Kitchen vinyl floor.

If I assume I could ask for 20% off for cash (TV and cabinet). Should I go for it or try harder?

I picked up a 42" G10 a couple of weeks ago for $2700 from HN without really trying, also got 48 months interest free so very happy.

As a minimum I would recommend shopping around and asking for their best cash price. If it isn't around the 20% mark you can always ask the question then. Doesn't hurt to try different salespeople in the same store either (maybe at a different time). Some are more prepared to haggle than others.

Bound to be more experienced purchasers out there, but being aware of what other deals people have managed for the same TV helps.

The Premiere VX100 65in and 50in Plasma's have been officially launched and are listed on the Panasonic NZ website.

Only available through selected retailers

These are no holds bar the best that Panasonic can do, the accountants were sent on holiday :)

btw, THX or isf modes allow for better calibration to the standards than the typical standard modes.
Out of the box they may be margionally better than other defaults, however because of panel aging effects which is considerable in the first 100~200 hrs use a calibration cannot be accurately performed in the factory. Panels are tested in production for tolerance between +/- range. It's not that they don't try to get them accurate, it's just the cost to have every panel leaving the factory individually calibrated to high standard would be too high for you the purchaser to tolerate.

The Premiere is from the Professional series, which means extra $$$ to the $$$ price tag of the V10. Looks good, though.

Oooohhh I've been waiting for this to show up to see exactly what features they put in our version. A quick scan shows, as compared to G10:
4 HDMI
DLNA
Vieracast
PIP/PAP

and hopefully 96Hz 24p and THX mode as already discussed.
So looks like we get much the same as the overseas V10s.

I want a 42" one, bet they don't bring it in....

I was just in JB's (Albany) and one of the Panasonic guys was there. It seems the TH-P50V10Z actually has a RRP of 4499. Due about mid to late October. He expected the V10 to eventually replace the G10 here. The 58 and 65 will follow latter in the year.

The GX-42 cabinet is quite nice. It does have feet that allows you to slide it on the floor. I'll try get a picture up today.

Edit: Here are a couple of pics (off my phone & probably not in correct aspect ratio either!):
Panny 42" S10 w/old Panny DVD and VCR (Dad slowly moving into 21st Century but not BD or MySky yet but MySky HD is on the cards in the next year).

And my HT setup downstairs just for fun

Sony 40" X series w/HT 5.1 system & PS3 & Computer.
