If you can't even get freeview working there sounds like theres a pretty big issue, perhaps get that going first before trying sky?

eXDee: ndscam 0.0.7 is out btw. Dunno if 6 or 7 support sky cards or not though.
Theres a whole bunch of stuff on the happysat forums about mediaportal + mdapi.

I Managed to get it working on Mediaportal :) (45xx Card), All you need is MDAPIFilter found here http://dvbn.happysat.org/viewtopic.php?t=38864&postdays=0&postorder=asc and NDSCAM

Working with mediaportal 1 RC2 on a single HVR-3000 card in Vista 32bit sp1. Only problem Ive had is it dosn't decode after returning from standby, resetting TV server fixes it though. Haven't used it for long periods yet to see if it runs into problems as I needed the card to watch TV! (still only have a desktop pc at this stage as im only testing stuff for a future HTPC) but seems gd.

ummm... gutted, got rather excited - I have a blue card, but short lived, nothing starts with 45...

There is a number in large print 01 18xxxxxx, then the following in a smaller font NZ17xxxB and 0046xxMxxxxx - so I assume this is the 17xx card people talk about?

Get onto every forum you can and start viscious rumors that both the 17XX cards have been cracked, and are freely able to be copied. Go to some web cafes, put some adds onto trademe advertising dodgy Sky cards for sale.

Wait for Sky to recall all 17XX cards...

Goes back to watching Sky in Media Center...

Do you get audio on 'The Box' ok? I Don't seem to, Ive tried it in mediaportal and in mytheatre with the same results.

On a side note Ive found that Alt,CI,CNBC,Documentry,FTV and Fox News don't work in mediaportal (all happen to be on that same transponder), But do in mytheatre so im assuming theres somthing I need to change in mediaportal to fix that.

Hopefully NDSCAM can be update'd to add support for the cards, as it seems just about everyone has them on here. Murpys Law aye?

The Box has 2 audio sources - you need to select the second one. You should be able to "edit" the channel and select the second audio track. Using ProgDVB this is easy - not sure about the others...

Media Portal supposedly supports MDAPI out of the box - so it should work. Spent a couple of hours trying with no sucess.

Same card + reader + s/CAM works with GBPVR, DVBViewer and a bunch of others using the inbuilt MDAPI support. I tried the others listed, all had problems during channel changes (locking etc), and dropping sound on various channels.

The MCE solution doesn't seem to suffer the same fate, it only uses the ProgDVB engine for the soft CAM engine as such. The streams are then passed directly the the Stream Buffer Engine. Channel changing is nearly as fast as with a native Freeview solution.

Satch - Once you get your head around the concept this is easy. Easier than doing the reg mods for MCE that for sure! No intructions at the moment, but the hardest part was building the card reader.

Shanek - yep thats the one. Cost under $70 including a motherboard serial cable.

In no way shape or form will this get you free Sky - it will only read the channels your card is subscribed to. I still haven't figured out how to send the Parental control PIN through - so you can't watch PIN protected channels. If anyone knows how please tell.

I still can't believe how well this works...

Hi, I'm having a problem with a Hauppauge Nova S card If I use ProgDVB v5.15.5 I can see Optus D1 etc.. and watch Freeview fine, If I use ProgDVB v4.89.6 I can't see the card properly "I think" but I can't see any settings for Optus D1 D2 etc... and of course you have to use that version so you can then use DVBSbridge. Any newer version won't work with DVBSBridge.

What sat card do you use, and is a there an easy fix to get it ProgDVB working with Nova S and DVBSBridge so I can then use it with MCE to watch free view..?

Hopefully I can help as I've been trying to get sky to work in VMC too and had to solve this for myself.

Prog 4.9 accesses old b1 Satellite frequencies contained in a file in the transponders directory under ProgDvb directory.

You need to go to the 1600.ini file and edit the data in there to match the newer d1 Satellite frequency info. Also rename the optus B1 to D1 and it will be more obvious when you start up Prog.

You can find the new freqs by going to www.lyngsat.com/optusd1.html website. Edit these into 1600.ini and you should be able to scan for the freeview channels as well as the sky channels(if you included them in the .ini) .

Now since I've been able to help someone.... I'm also now stuck and got a question for Rusty.

Ive got freeview working, i've got a 45xx card and built the Jaycar reader but I'll be buggered if I can get the NdsCam to read my sky card through the Jaycar. The log file keeps saying the ATR can't be read.

I've tried both Progdvb and I am currently using MyTheatre but neither will access the card.

Did you have to modify the card reader as per the austech forums to get it to work or is there some driver to load for the card reader? I'm at a loss as I've tried to get this to work for a few weeks now and have run out of ideas. Mind you I did manage to sort thru the probs as outlined above.

Hope someone can help or give me some pointers of where to look.

Thanks for the tip rusty, can get audio on the box now :)

I had problems getting the reader to work origionally because I was using a null modem cable (its been so long since I used serial stuff I forgot that there were different cables haha) maybe check that??
I could never get it to work in progdvd, the first time I got it going was in mytheatre, which has a free trial download and theres a guide on the forums on how to set it up aswell
Oh and I never had to change any settings in NDSCAM either it works off the stock ini fine (never had to change 'card type' setting etc)

Hope some of this is of use to you :)

Really wanting a 45XX card right now. Does anyone know if MyskyHDi will use our existing old 17xx gold card? If we decide to add the multiroom package onto this for a couple of months, whats the chances of getting a 45xx card in the new myskyHDi unit?
Wish i knew someone that worked at sky, then we might get some straight answers on when and where the cards are issued.

If i can get one, and people are confirming it works in NDSCam under mediaportal, im hopefully going to go the whole hog with a HVR-4000 card, and try and tune in the HD channels as well.
