Hi Everyone,

My names Leon and I'm the product person at Morepork (Sparks new Home Security / Home Automation business).

We are a very small team and have just launched our business (no advertising has really started as yet)

I'm not the engineer working with firmware commands or writing code on our platform or website but I work with these people everyday. That said, I like to build PC/Mobile games (Mono/XNA) and have a self imposed rule that any PC in my home has to be built by myself.

I'm joining so I can help answer any questions you may have about Morepork and to get an idea on what people are talking about, so we can get a better sense of what IOT device or improvement might be the next focus of expansion for us.

Cheers
Leon

Welcome. There was a pretty active thread about Morepork when it launched. I'm really interested in it.

My concerns are around the privacy of the solution - what is to stop someone at alarm.com/morepork from "peeking in" on my cameras? That will limit where I am happy to put them.

I believe the summary of other concerns were high initial outlay ($1k) with an on-going cost for self monitoring and a lack of external siren.

Hi,

Thanks for the welcome.

I take privacy seriously and so do the rest of the team here.

No-one in Morepork has access to your videos or images. Only a handful of vetted engineers at Alarm.com have physical access to the data centre where the images/video are stored but they don't have permissions to see or use your data. Also, every action to the system is recorded in the logs which customers have full access to, this will include commands sent by Morepork or ADC.

The initial outlay is pretty competitive to other alarm systems on the market from what I've seen that is compatible in functionality, etc. The ongoing cost covers the use of the ADC platform, the data from the panel to the cloud over the mobile network, data storage and access to the App, not to mention customer support 7 days a week.

I'm looking at external devices (including sirens), I'll keep you all updated as we look to release new gear!

Thanks
Leon

Hi,

Sure thing! We use Alarm.com (platform), Alarm Watch(monitoring centre), First Security (guard services) and Qolsys / Alarm.com (hardware).

We will be partnering with a couple companies in the next few months as we expand our system and will certainly be building on these current partnerships ongoing as well.

Cheers,
Leon
