Hi geekzoners,

Thought it was about time I moved from being a long-time though occasional lurker to a registered participant.

My name's Jon, I've worked in mainstream IT&T for longer than I care to (or am able to?) remember, live in Lower Hutt, near Wellington, New Zealand and have a long and abiding interest in things geek-like, with a voracious appetite for toys but almost no family budget with which to satisfy it. So, many of my toys come off Trade Me, and many are broken when I buy them.

My current hobby interests center around home theatre PCs (as living room appliances), getting Freeview cheaply, home theatre and hi-fi generally, I want to learn Linux (I'm an old DOS / Windows hand), VMWare (means I can learn Linux without having to trash any of my Windows boxes!), thiniking about where the Internet is going and in particular Internet Security, and fixing the broken toys I buy off Trade Me so I can sell them and buy better toys without the family noticing.

I've always found these forums (fora?) friendly and helpful, so (whipping my invisibility cloak off) - Hello Everyone!
