Hi All,
Though I consider myself an internet geek and am online more often than I sleep,  I have in the past tended to avoid social networking sites such as Twitter, Bebo, Facebook etc,  scoffing at the little value I thought they had.

Well recently I have taken the plunge and came across freitasm after seeing who my friends on Twitter were following.  Since joining twitter I have really enjoying reading the posts of technology commentators so thought I would come here and check it out.

I am currently finishing my last papers in a Bachelor of Business Studies (Management, Business Information Systems)  at Massey in Palmy.  In my studies I have come to realise that although IT/IS can be used to gain competitive advantage in the short term, it is usually not long before everyone else catches up, essentially creating a necessity for all businesses that are going to be successful to stay on top of all recent developments.  I seem to have all the theory on board,  but have come to realise recently I lack any advanced technical skills - so this is somethin I'm hoping to change in the near future

I take in interest in technology (particularly the sociology aspect), politics and current events. Just realised I have written a small novel  (autobiography?), so will wrap up here. I look forward to getting to know you all here.

Geoff

Welcome Geoff. I too abhorr the social networking sites, but do find value in connecting with other real, interesting people.

Trick is to avoid the facebooky "xyz sent his Vampire Horde to bite you" type stuff, and stick to normal conversation. :o) (well... everyones 'normal' is relative to their own mind I guess LOL).
