Hi All

I've joined up to Geekzone recently after seeing some interesting discussions and good information on technology in NZ. I'm currently based in Adelaide but toying with moving back home to Hawkes Bay for family reasons, but of course the economy isn't being that kind to me at the moment so staying put for now. I'm a Microsoft/VMware Systems Engineer by trade but also mess a lot with HTPC's and my new HTC Touch Diamond 2 mobile. I also love the outdoors and a round of golf, miss the NZ lifestyle for sure.

Cheers
Russ..

PS: What happened to the price of beer in NZ recently, its crazy?

Welcome to Geekzone. I live in Hawkes Bay too. Wonderful place.

Beer? MMMmm I didnt think prices were too bad... liquor stores suck a** these days, but supermarkets often have Tui/Speights/Red etc on special for around $14-$15 a dozen - Xmas time is a good time to stock up on $12 a dozen specials.

Premium brews like Heine etc vary a lot, between $18.99 and $25.99 a doz.

Yeah still slightly cheaper than over here and and I guess I usually come home for Christmas when the specials are on, $1 a can/bottle like you say. A slab of Tui was $30 at New World in Napier in August.

Nice one Russ - Hawkes Bay is a great place

Beer's creeping up in price slightly but has actually been very stable for years. That's from supermarkets - pub prices are different kettle of fish altogether!
