Hi,

My name is Peter, I arrived in NZ in '83. Motorcycle mechanic by birth, German by trade I moved into IT in 1990. After 8 years in Rotorua and 7 on the French Riviera I decided to ride my bike back home. You can read about that on my web page. On the way I met many people. One of them decided to ride with me and is now my wife. :)

For various reasons we ended up in Whangarei. Looks like working in IT here is not an option, so we are looking at buying a business now.

As out current landlord is involved with Ubernet they are our ISP (wireless) and it's nice and fast, although it went down twice in the 3 weeks we have been here.

I stumbled upon these forums in my search for info about ISPs, as we will probably soon need to find one, when we move.

Apart from computers & Internet my interests are motorcycling and travelling, preferably combining the two, GPS maps and Openstreetmap.

Kind regards,
Peter.

Thanks for the welcome, people.

I guess not many people here are willing to confess being bikers. In an IT forum that might be considered too --- geeky! Tongue out

OMG, that is a long topic you sent me to! And off-topic...

Thanks.

Hmm, pity the GZMC topic is locked now. Well, since this is my intro topic I can add it here:

I ride a 1999 Suzi DR650 which I bought in Monaco and rode all the way to Timor Leste, shipped it to Singapore and flew it to Akl. It is nearing 200,000km and the engine has never been opened.

In Thailand I met the lady who became my wife. She passed her licence, bought a bike, hopped on it and rode the 2nd half of the trip with me. Pix and stories on our web site.

We now live in Whangarei and are looking for work or to buy a business.

Thanks.

At the risk of appearing stupid: in the competition that just closed Mauricio wrote that he sent a PM to the winner. For the life of me I can't see a way of sending or receiving PMs here. Can somebody please point me in the right direction.

Cheers,
Peter.
