Sounds like somebody you know attended and got a 'cheesy' tshirt. Ok off to cross reference the guest list with the prize list.

LMAO. Sorry, I couldn't resist throwing a few suggestions in there.  Personally I'm not worried about finding out who it is, but as an intellectual exercise it's a bit of fun.

In theory (if you had the irc logs) it should take less than an hour to either get a most likely candidate or narrow it down to a couple of probable matches. Also out of the two prizes (bearing in mind there may be more than 2) only the more retail/common type prizes would have been passed on. The pure geek stuff, or specific hardware (ie: CF GPS card) are unlikely to be passed on as you'd have no use for them.

Sorry, didn't mean to scare you off. Welcome to the forums and feel free to ask questions. Most of the time we're not really interested in things like this, but we all love a challenge to get our teeth into. :)

Okay, so if you actually have a full time job to do with geekzone that's fair enough, but just how many of you actually do work for geekzone?

Plus for some of us finding information like this is almost a hobby anyway. Correlating information from multiple sources, determining the relationships between the data and weeding out the dross that isn't required. Refining the resulting data and then extending what's known about it. More cross referencing, and at the end of it you either have the information you wanted, or a couple of pretty good candidates for what you wanted.

It's sad, but there is a certain satisfaction to cracking a problem like that and finding the information you wanted.  Of course it's also a very valuable skill to have.

It does also scare some people how easily the information can be refined especially if you've been on the net a while.  And yeah, knowing that there were only 40 odd people at the GZ06, and from memory only about 26/27 or so were from Wellington (vague recollection of original counts for regions), in addition to your age, it already narrows the selection down quite considerably. Even without factoring in the 2 prize aspect.

I'm pretty sure I could probably work out 2 or 3 likely candidates just based on the information I've got access to, but that's an exercise for another day. As you mentioned most of us have fulltime jobs, and I need to get back to mine. :)

Just myself, at the moment. We are planning in having an editor and writer in the near future, to cover the news, reviews and articles sections.

You write quite well, for a 17 year old. Shame not geeky (in your own words)...

PS: Congrats Suzy. Apart from the thread on where everyone was from, it looks like your introduction thread now has the most replies. ;p
