Ausi - for about two hours (travelling from Wellington to Shanghai).... soon to be China.

Using one of the free terminals here though I suspect there is also free wireless... don't feel like paying the now quite reasonable Voda roaming GPRS rates.

While we can't give exact numbers for all of our readers (many read but don't register at all), I was able to extract the information from the database, based on registered users who informed their country of origin (which is an optional piece of information).

Where are Geekzone users coming from?

The top numbers are:

USA: 30%

New Zealand: 23%

UK: 12%

Australia: 4%

India: 4%

Canada: 3%

Netherlands: 1%

Germany: 1%

Others are not representative, although I am pretty much confident all countries are represented in the database.

In terms of users visiting the site is actually even higher - about 55% from the USA, and 35% from New Zealand. The chart is only for registered users.

Have you ever done one by visiting IP-country. Would be interesting though would probably mirror the results already posted.

I would bet that most of the referrals come from search engines like google, yahoo and msn-search though it would be interesting what sites link to geekzone.

On another note - I posted myself three times on the map - once in NZ, once in Ausi, and once in China.

Yes, the ratio for visitors is what I've posted in the previous post (after the chart's post). I've been following the logs for a while (I have almost 100GB of logs here to play with) and the referers are mostly google.com, news.google.com, yahoo.com, gizmodo.com, engadget.com, pocketpcthoughts.com and other sites related to Pocket PC.

Interesting enough MSN Search is not a big presence...

I stopped doing the full logs - running loganaliser for 2005 alone takes a few hours on a dedicated machine. I am now doing it per year instead of the full thing, and archiving each year. So now I started doing 2006 alone...
