Hi, I've recently purchased a ASUS Zenbook UX31E which doesn't have a disc drive (which I knew). Wondering if people have recommendations about USB Optical Disc Drives.
The primary use is to rip CDs (we own). If we could play Blu-rays that would be a bonus but not necessary. I would prefer to buy in NZ (Internet is my preference) but have no qualms about buying overseas. Thanks.

The external Blu-Ray units are still quite pricey (around $300). DVDRW options are available from about $50. Something like a Samsung SE-208AB Slim External DVDRW or a Lite-On eTAU108 Slim External DVDRW at about $60.

Not used any of the above models but can get them from distributors. I really should get one myself.

Thanks for the link. Yep, spotted that one. It looks cool. But the price puts me off. I'm not say it's not worth it, but the "nice to have" means I'm being a bit sensible about spending that sort of money. I appreciate you taking the time to have a look for me. Cheers

Thanks for the move. I'll check those two out. I think I've looked at them before but I don't know if they're good. That's what I was hoping someone might mention. Of course you could get one or the other and then let me know ;-) Would be a worthwhile exercise for when you get your own Ultrabook :)
