Hi guys, Im after a GOOD 10" or 11" laptop. So it will be quality rather than price :-)
Its not for me and HAS TO be 11" or less, running Win. (not my choice, 13" gives much better choices)

Preferably an i3 (or a descent CPU) & SSD .

Ive looked at a few, but you check some user/tech reviews & the issues with 11,10" becomes obvious
They all seem to be convertible tablets, so everything is a compromise.......  :-(
Most seem to have low spec cheap Tablet CPU's
When 'docked', some model have a fixed or too upright viewing angle (Surface, Tosh), or others will just tip over when tilted back

How is the speed of the modern Atom equivelnets, compared to the original ATOM's ?

Any recommendations ? It will be a business laptop running Word, Excel,Outlook (with word, pdf attachments) opening LARGE(500+ Page) PDF's
and remote controlling the users work pc .
Cheers

Surface Pro?  I see you mention (rule it out?) as being "too upright", but doesn't the SP3 have plenty of range in the kickstand?

You also don't mention budget - probably worth at least giving a ballpark.

EDIT: Ah oops - I see you want 11" and less.... hmm, I suspect even at 12" the SP3 dimensions might be smaller or equal to some 11" "laptops"?

Imho Surface and other tablets with keyboard are not really a laptop in the sense of use on any surface. [Edit like typing on lap]

Dell XPS 2015. It is 13.3 display in a 11" bezel. It is the best ultrabook in the market available right now.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I beg to disagree

I've been using Surface Pro 3 for 10 months now, on my lap sweet as

I've had a Surface 3 for 2 months, I find the keyboard even better

Personally I think this 2n1 detachable is much more useful than a laptop. Its better in an airplane seat, its better on my couch at home, I can type like a laptop on my lap, when I use it on my chest in bed, or on my lap, all of the nasty powered electronics, RF and WiFi is away from my sensitive body parts unlike a laptop would be.

I can also put my Surface kickstand back and put it on the back of a chair etc if I'm ironing or at the gym. Things a laptop cant do.

Maybe I'm biased.

If you want to see my Surface 3 before its released let me know. 10.8" 3:2 1920x1280

If you don't like the Surface Pro 3 dock you can use it without the dock obviously.

Atom is faster than you think. Its not a crappy netbook from 7 years ago

Clovertrail got OK, then Baytrail is the norm you find in most low cost Windows tablets today. Now Cherrytrail / Atom X7 8700 is in Surface 3. 2.7x the graphics performance, 10 hours battery.

Ok I really did not think the type pad and stand were rigid enough and stable for lap typing.
