Hi Peeps,

Does Windows 10 need anything set up differently to make SSD last longer/go faster? I saw something about disabling DeFrag and wondered if there was any other bits and bobs recommended.

And what do you recommend for SSD set up on desktop (also W10)?

Cheers,

Elp

No nothing is needed, if it was Windows 7, a few things. SSD's have progressed enough that you don't need to do anything these days to make them last longer or faster, about 5+ years ago it would of been recommended since those SSD's back then were a much older generation.

There are things you can do, but you don't have to do anything.

10 will even do trim thru an intel raid of SSDs - they changed it to call the thing optimize and it defrags rust drives and trims solid state ones.

Bit annoying that you cant really defrag them since it would be nice to do it on the fast drive before cloning stuff off to rust where the defrags take 20-30 times longer.
