I'm getting some more weird behaviour from my Mums laptop I'm trying to fix. Sometimes it's like shift gets stuck on, even on the on-screen keyboard, nothing I do can turn it off. When this happens you can't type numbers or some characters like full stop.

I have noticed that the left shift key doesn't work.  Likely related? I find it weird that the on screen keyboard is showing both shift keys on.

Other times it's like the function key has gotten stuck on.

Memtest comes back ok, I ran HCI for a couple of hours ok. I'll run windows memory diagnostics some time. Prime95 testing pi generation for an hour worked fine too. It has a new SSD in it.

Any thoughts?

This is usual behaviour for on screen keyboard when either of the shift keys is invoked.  Assume this is related to the SSD thread, did you need to remove the keyboard to get to the harddrive?  I have had similar issue with the keyboard connector not being seated properly after ssd replacement.  if you havent already could be worth unplugging it replugging it.  Could you have damaged the connector when you removed it?

HDD didn't go anywhere near keyboard. Will try reseating, or replacing keyboard.
