Hi Guys,

My sister is looking at getting a laptop this weekend (so special Easter deals are a go). She is looking for:

Windows (only platform for a couple of programs she needs)
An SSD - doesn't need huge storage, speed is the priority
Easily portable (i.e. thin and not huge)
Good battery life
A nice screen (good resolution/colour)
Good 'daily' performance (it's not going to be used for gaming, but potentially 'heavy' general use. The less manufacturer bloatware the better!)

Budget of $1,500 - what's the best thing around for that price?

I have been using this model since it came out never had any problems the main selling point for me was the 3 year HP waranty on all parts, as well as the Tech comes to you to repair it.

I have also just purchased another for my sister to replace her macbook and she loves it as she now has a device that she can dock at home and at work alot easier.

There was a guy selling brand new ones on Trade me for $1450ish with a dock from memory.

Surface Laptop
Dell XPS13

Both are around that price depending on what specs
SL seems to be about 1300 for i5/8/128 but personally I'd pay the extra to jump up to 256

Thanks guys,

That Elitebook was too much of a stretch - but looks very nice.

She went with a Surface Laptop 2 for $1250 for the 128GB - given what it will be used for the 80GB useable is sufficient for her needs.
