Title says it all...

I purchased a brand new $3000 MacBook Pro and had to buy 4 adapters with it. 1x USB-C to Video (multi-port thing), 1x USB-C to Ethernet and 2x USB-C to USB A.

Why did I need to buy $200 worth of adapters. If I wanted a thinner laptop with no ports then I would have brought a MacBook Air.

Were your eyes closed when purchasing said laptop?

Fail to see how this is a surprise to you.

Most modern laptops are heading this way so it's not just a macbook thing.

Yeah this has been a thing since 2016, it's not new.

Personally I use one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071G83L1J?_encoding=UTF8&tag=ankerweb_usbchub-20 So 1 adapter for everything.

That’s the price you pay for the miniaturisation. I don’t mind what I saw on an HP laptop slimline the other day however where the network port expanded out to take the plug.

You don’t buy a sports car to then complain about the cost of servicing and replacement tyres.

My MacBook pro cost 4k and I had to do the same, I knew I would have to it is what it is.

I know but I thought Apple would have reverted to the older MacBook Pro style (2012-2015 retina) models. They had USB, Thunderbolt and most importantly MagSafe ports.

The lack of anything but USB-C ports one of the things that put me off ordering a 13" MBP. After much deliberation, I've gone with an HP model instead. It also includes a couple of USB A ports, and an HDMI port. It's 14" as well, with a footprint not too dissimilar to the 13" MBP. Will have to wait and see if the decision pans out. It hasn't arrived yet.

People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.

The dock I have is smaller than the power adapter. To me it's a non-issue. Each to their own though.

Personally I'm too much of a fan of MacOS to move away.

But they they wouldn't have been able to sell you all the dongles you need. Great way to make extra money.
