I've just recommended to a friend a Dell Latitude 3310 with an i5 chip, SSD, touch screen, and 3-year on-site service for $1500. When I was last buying Dell business class gear (about 5 years ago) they seemed reasonably reliable and with a good build quality. Any opinions on this?

Make sure the ethernet is gigabit, we have a customer that bought one and it is only 10/100 and would be lucky to do 15 down.

I plugged in my usb ethernet adaptor and the performance increase was amazing.

If I recall the wifi was not much chop either, the 5 year old HP outperformed the Dell in almost every aspect except for video editing.

As an overall the latitudes series are still a decent quality laptop, Although I personally think they're starting to lack behind competitors when you compare them to current gen Elitebooks. As SATTV mentioned, Dell have a habit of including 10/100 networking as default on their lower models so you need to be careful if that's important to you.

I bought my wife a 7480 a few years ago and I've had a 7490 for two years.

I would definitely buy again. I only paid $1700 for mine with i7-8650U, 16GB and 1TB nvme.

Check the cheaper ones are 1080p, there are plenty with only 768.
