The dongle/receiver for my Logitech M221 wireless mouse is missing presumed KIA. Is there anyway of replacing it or do I need to buy another mouse?

If this uses the Unifying receiver, I have a couple of spares and can send you one. There is a bit of software you can download that lets you link a new device.

Sorry I made an error, its a M280.
Edit: Just found this on the Logitech site: "Unifying-ready receiver: No"
Looks like I'm buying a new mouse.

From the "lessons I only had to learn once" file:
Have you checked inside the battery compartment where there is a subtle, easy-to-miss, easy-to-forget, slot for the nano receiver so you don't lose it when it is unplugged? Designed exclusively (IMHO) so you can feel smug when you put it in the storage slot, then feel absolutely stupid when you realise later after much searching and cursing that you put it in the storage slot.

Might pay to double check. Many cheaper Logitech mice/keyboards dont come with a unifying receiver but will work with one. That statement reads to me like it doesnt come with one.
Yup, looks like youre in luck;

BTW mighty ape used to stock the receivers but it looks like they are out of stock. I bought a spare off aliexpress a few years ago as you couldnt source them locally.
I have had a recently bought a small wired USB mouse for $4 at a large department store. Now I have this in my Laptop bag. Main advantages is there are no batteries to go flat and a wireless mouse is free now for use with the television set android box from the couch.
I did not buy this when I first saw it but on a second visit to the store after the advantages and price value had sunk in.

Here is my Quic referral https://account.quic.nz/refer/39513 if you are keen to change ISP and to get free setup (save $29). I will get a $50 credit if you use this. Thank you very much if you use my link but I'm sure there are quite a few others who could share the same on here, no hard feelings if you use a different link.
I lean towards bluetooth mouses if I can, especially as laptops seem to have fewer USB ports than before.

They are still so much more expensive though...for good ones.

Me too, my Razer Atheris (apart from being an amazing mouse) is bluetooth and also has a 2.4 dongle. So you can switch betweem the two modes. I have noticed on occasion that bluetooth will lag when I have a headset connected as well as the mouse. Mouse+Keyboard no problem but Mouse+Headset seems to act weird.
