I just installed some more ram in my old laptop to try help speed it up a little. After fitting it and turning laptop on it beeps loudly twise and doesnt do anything. what does this mean? Dodgy ram? Its second hand and looks not the best? The laptop is compaq presario M2000 its a few years old. The ram I fitted is the same size make and model numbers as already in it. Any help would be great!

Have you tried removing the existing stuff and just using the "new" stuff?

Yes they are probably faulty DIMMs. You can test it out by trying out the DIMMs one by one to see which one is faulty.

ok will try them individually and see wat happens. The model number is M2207AP if thats any help to any one ,

Got it working. Tryed one at a time after cleaning one of the pins on the new ram and they both worked individually. Fitted both and laptop is running much faster. Under system in control pannel it says there is only 384mb of ran i asume this is because the other 128 is shared by the video card?
