Hi team,

Another recommendation post.

This one is for a community group and will be used by the Secretary. Mainly admin type work, low power requirements. Key requirement is something that will last the test of time.

My personal preference is HP Probook/Elitebook. I also like the ThinkPad line but I'm not sure about the build quality these days.

My wife is on a 10+ year old Probook, threw some more RAM and SSD into it a while back, and it runs like new.

We use all Probooks at work, and got some old ones there which keep going as well.

Dell latitudes are generally solid systems as well.

HP Probook is good, and good value. No point getting an Elitebook. Microsoft Surface has a quieter fan but works well, WiFi not quite as good as HP at least the one I had a couple of years ago.

Quieter fan? My Surface Laptop 4 has a screaming fan at the moment.

Huge difference from the MBP M1 I was using last week!

I like the Zbook cost a little more, has 3 year warranty over 1, and DDR5. Also why buy with 32GB RAM? You can normally buy 16GB that has 1 x 16GB and buy and extra 16GB for less and put in slot 2 (if its not soldered ram off course)

Just be wary, the RAM and SSD upgrades are performed by PBTech - we had a few come into work that were faulty after those upgrades....... PB sorted them out but was annoying as hell.

Lenovo ThinkPads are great machines as well. Could look into getting these ex-lease to get some good machines for under $2k.
