Hi there - looking to get a new laptop but can hang on with the old one a bit longer. There are a few sales going on at the moment (DSE etc.) - does this mean maybe the vouchers may not be too far away??

I can buy now of course and then just upgrade later but might kick myself if they started coming out Tuesday.....

I don't think the vouchers / free upgrades will appear anytime soon, not in New Zealand anyway. Plus, would you really want to use Windows 7 straight off the batt as there could be some potential issues with compatibility with printers, external hardware etc.

Many retailers are discounting not because of Windows 7, but due to the fact that no one is really purchasing at present due to the economic conditions. There aren't even any decent high-spec-ed machines out there anymore.

I personally suggest that you find a notebook that you like and get the best deal there.

Get the best deal on a notebook now, Windows7 will work better than vista, and surprisingly works well with a lot of stuff already

Vouchers for free vista upgrades came out 3 months before the release.. release date is Oct 22 for win7.. so theoretically they will start offering vouchers in July..

depends on how long you can wait, and if you want to shell out another couple hundred for win7 later on..

We were told by Microsoft that voucher date is 29th of July. Any PC bought with Vista after that date will have the upgrade voucher available.

Actually the date is the 26th of July.

Lol...sorry...I transmogrified the 6 and 9. My bad. Its June also, not July, so I guess we should be seeing vouchers this week.
