So I stood on my laptop (Acer Aspire 5335) in the dark and cracked the screen. Whilst I'm obviously not going to be able to make a warranty claim, I'd still like it repaired, but I can't find a New Zealand support line anywhere, only the Australian one.

Other than that, how much is it likely to cost (I'm expecting around $800), and who is the New Zealand official Acer parts supplier, if it's likely to be simpler to contact them directly?

Cheers for any help you can provide.

This would be a valid insurance claim? I had to return an acer laptop (factory recall) and it was a time consuming and painfall process due to the world famous acer customer support. The call centre is in Aussie. Good luck

How good are you with a screw driver? Its really not hard to replace. I got an Acer 6530 as an insurance write off as Acer were going to take 6 weeks to supply the screen. Took it apart, got a model for the screen off the back (samsung) and brought one off ebay, shipped to my door for less than $200 and about a week to get here. Took about 1/2 hour to fit.

That seems like a good idea actually, where abouts am I likely to find the screen model written?

EDIT: Nevermind, found it on the back of the screen. Surprisingly easy to remove, actually.

Now if only I had a use for the broken one (bottom left quarter is white, remaining bottom two thirds are flickering constantly, great big crack in the panel)
