Hey, newbie here :D. Anyway I have a NEC versa M400, I had it for about 2 years, the problem is when I have programs running e.g. virus scan, it over heats and the fan is really loud then it will just switch off no safely though (not windows shut down) as in it just cuts off. Does anyone know whats happening and how do I fix it? Thanks guys.
Perhaps a faulty fan, the temp is getting to high, the bearings are whining (causing the fan to be inefficient), and some sort of thermally operated switch is cutting power to save your CPU from frying?
Depending on the layout of the cooling fan & the heatsink you can get cases of a layer of dust building up over the fins on the heatsink. Effectively stopping the airflow and resulting in the machine overheating.
yeah my computer does that, I use it sometimes in my room and this morning I was playing Flight SImulator 2004 and as I was about to land my computer turned off without telling me. I switched back on again and about 20 mins later it did it again so I am probably going to buy a new laptop :D
