I guess no one responded to the below post in time. You have to actually power off, then it shows up in the menu. Reset doesn't do it.

I had to call IBM on this one. Argh.

Gotta lerv these new TCPM lappies... need to clear the Security Chip on a Lenovo T60, and the manual says to do so in BIOS, under the Security/Security Chip menu. Except there are only three alternatives there... Security Chip Enabled/Inactive/Disabled.

I don't know why powering off does the trick. I have a guess, though. I think when the computer powers on part of the BIOS is copied into the system's main memory for use while while the computer is running. Maybe "soft" reboot just reuses the BIOS image already in memory, and this image doesn't contain the bits to do a chip reset. Maybe you get the real BIOS only when you power on. Maybe. Hmm... any better ideas?
