Hi Guys,

Looking at taking advantage of Harvey Normans 36 months interest free deal and invest in a new laptop (old one gave up the ghost 2 weeks ago).

I had my eye on the http://www.harveynorman.co.nz/samsung-np305v5a-s06nz-laptop.html which my local HN has for $1600. Now i am not to sure where AMD stands currently as my old lappy is 3 years old (It had a Turion).

Will the A8 preform just as well if not better than a similar laptop with an i7.

Im a bit of a Samsung fanboy but if anyone else knows of any other laptops that would be better bag for buck i would be keen for a look.

It all depends on what you plan on using the laptop for.

The Core i7 laptops will trump the a8 on everything except integrated graphics.
A review on Techreport.com comparing the A8 to a core i5 has the dual core i5 beating the a8 3500 in everything except integrated graphics, a Core i7 would likely be slaughter again with the caveat that Amd Integrated graphics are far superior to integrated Intel graphics so if you go Intel make sure it has an nvidia or ati graphics chip too if you plan on gaming.

I don't have any opinion on laptop branding so can't help you much there sorry.

I was always planning on getting a laptop with a graphics card so I guess I now know why it was on special haha.

Cheers for the help

Fairly good bang for buck on that one. Ascent do provide a financing option - if you don't have the cash (or can't get a loan), though not sure what the T&Cs are.
