Hi All,

Was hoping to get some advice - I've got an old Dell Vostro laptop 1400 that I bought in Oz about four or five years ago for about $800 at the time. I upgraded it to Window 7 and everything was going fine until the graphics card blew out. Quoted 350 to fix it. I just bought a new computer and my old laptop is has been sitting there ever since.

I haven't had much love on trademe so was wondering what do I do with it? Its still works fine and could be fixed - don't want to sell it for nothing but am I being realistic that anyone might want to pay anything for it?

At $350 to fix a four years old laptop, you'd probably be getting under $50 for it.

Ive bought many faulty Dell laptops for as little as $10, especially the older ones.

If you have a decent amount of RAM, a big hard drive and the battery still works well then it might go for more than $50 but I wouldnt count on it.

Is the W7 licensed ?

Chuck it in the oven for a bit (do some research on putting the laptop video card in the oven), I've fixed a couple of laptops by doing that, and, I know of 1 other one that this has worked for.
One of the laptops that I've fixed has been in daily use now for over a year with no recurrence of the problem. The other one is a spare.
Note - I am NOT suggesting that you just put the whole laptop in the oven, you would probably kill it.
