Jase2985: is a laptop with a Quadro card going to be better than one with a 960/980 for this sort of stuff? as there are a few profession CAD laptops out there with the quadro graphics cards
I had read the first link and that is the one I were basing my requirements on and also what we are currently using. I hadn't seen the second link though, which was real handy as I had heard that you could use a Surface 3, which surprised me based on the requirements listed by Artec. I do a lot of RTF scans which the Surface doesn't support.
We have tried PCs with Quadro cards but they don't work that well and Artec doesn't recommend them, even though they have users that use them.
The Dell Precision M6800 looks promising apart from the Quadro card, but maybe the 32 gig of RAM it compensates for Quadro deficiencies and also our IT people normally only let us buy Dells.
A strong reason to buy a Quadro card is if you plan to use Stereo mode in Artec Studio

littleheaven: How about Alienware? They're part of Dell, so that should keep the IT guys happy, and their 17inch range is specced appropriately. This one has 16GB RAM onboard, a 3GB GeForce graphics card, plus a 128GB SSD boot drive plus a 1TB SATA drive for storage.
