1101: The CGA applies .
No way could 3 months be seen as expected/reasonable lifetime of a new battery.

A battery is a consumable part and it is possible to kill a battery in 3 months with enough cycles.

Not through 'normal' use :-)

"Manufacturers take a conservative approach and specify the life of Li-ion in most consumer products between 300 and 500 discharge/charge cycles."
300 cycles is hardly 3months normal use
"Research rejects this common industry practice.[citation needed] On average, lifetimes consist of 1000 cycles,[104] although battery performance is rarely specified for more than 500 cycles. "

3 month warranty on reman parts is an issue that Ive had to deal with as a reseller, and is hard to justify.
http://www.laptopbattery.co.nz    give 12 months even on their el cheapo $40 batts .

bit of a bug here, add one link then everything after that is marked as a link  :-(

I've had my MBP for 2 months and it's done 80 cycles.  Not inconceivable to imagine some people would get more use out of theirs than I do and reach 100 cycles per month.

100 cycles per month is charging it 3 times a day? That would be very high. Many people will only charge once a day and many people will hook it up to a power supply if using for an extended period of time. Mine is almost always hooked up to power.

I bought an original macbook battery off a trademe seller, when installed it showed up as a fresh new battery, after about 6 months I really noticed battery performance waning. Mind you my SO took over the macbook and would use it in bed, on the couch via battery. When I was using the macbook I religiously kept it hooked up to the wall wherever I could. Mine is a 2010ish Macbook Core2Duo at 2.53.

It still runs great but it has needed a new battery (and a SSD probably won't hurt) for a long time. Keen to hear how you go with another replacement battery.

Time will show how it goes. But to update:

Replaced the 3rd party battery with an original battery, but it still wouldn't charge. Turns out the logic board that was replaced was replaced with another faulty logic board.

Apple impressed again, although needed a little push: The first line support person I talked to told me I had to have the machine (a Norwegian bought laptop) serviced in Norway to have it be done on warranty. When asking why that was they escalated the call up to a "warranty expert" (or something like that). Long story short, I delivered the machine for assessment to a certified Apple service centre, and they concluded it was the logic board and it was swapped yet again.

So now I have a Macbook Pro 2010 with new logic board and battery, and it works like a charm. Did not have to pay a single cent for the swap of logic board here in New Zealand.

I have slowly but surely learnt that third party electronics are nothing but junk. I only buy them if they cost no more than loose change, or doesn't need to last, or doesn't need to work.

I would complain to the shop and complain to Apple and play the two against each other until I get my genuine battery if i was cheated of one. Of course, if you knew it wasn't genuine to start with, bin it and laugh out loud.
