Is fairly simple task to switch hdds, cloning the existing drive system contents onto a new drive. You've done half the job already with your broken laptop :). Could get the cheaper $1500 Toshiba one without an SSD now, then is an easy upgrade in the future if needed.

I might give JB a ring and mention they had it for $1600 last month, would I be able to get it for that price. Worst thing they can say is no.

The cheaper $1500 Toshiba, do you mean the HP that is $1500 with the touch screen?

I do like the idea of the whole 360° rotation 2 in 1, the one Mightyape has for $1600.

Ok guys, I am going to go out tomorrow and buy one.

I have a list, however it hasn't really changed much. I will list in order of preference.

This is my preference, but I will go into JB and see if they will do the deal for $1616 which they had a month ago, as spotted by JonB. If they wont (Im not really expecting them to) then I wont buy it

It doesn't have a SSD, but besides that the specs are quite good. Plus I like the idea of the Touchscreen.

I really love the idea of the 360degrees spin, 2 in 1. Tough choice between this and the HP listed above, honestly I would be happy with either. However don't want to wait till next week/cant really wait.

Again, doesn't have a SSD, but fits my other wants fine and is the cheapest of the lot. Not going to be doing any heavy gaming/heavy duty tasks.

Does anybody have any advice/different order of preferences?

The i7-4510 Toshiba from Mighty Ape would be my pick but is hard to choose.. HP has much more powerful graphics than the Intel graphics of the toshiba, but Toshiba has SSD. If you won't be gaming in the future Toshiba will be fine though.

Note that the HP and the folding Toshiba have no DVD drive, if that is a requirement for you.

By the way, you can get cheaper Full HD 15.6" screens if you're patient. I got an ex-demo deal for $600 and I've seen good specials below $1,000. The one feature that I'd pay more for would be an IPS screen because of the wider viewing angle and the color consistency.

Not a requirement regarding the DVD drive no. Cant remember when I last used a disc lol

Argh!!

I am so confused, don't know what to do.

As some of you know I Got this Laptop from Insurance. I wanted to put a SSD into it, so I ordered This SSD just last night. However I just saw That JB has this laptop for $1616, which was my preference.

So now I need to decide whether to sell this laptop (Which is still un opened), along with the SSD and just go out and buy this Toshiba from JB Hifi. I would be happier with the Toshiba and I wouldn't have to fiddle around with the insides of the Laptop I got from insurance, as the Toshiba comes with a SSD.

Worked it out to be around $750-$800 at a cost to me once you factor in the price I could get for selling the HP I got from insurance and the $250 insurance fee. $800 for a brand new laptop with These specs seems good to me. I would be happier, but I absolutely hate spending money (Even 10c I find difficult to part with lol) which is where my "no" comes into it.

Advice please....

and you will find a lot of insurance companies wont do this, you have to deal with a specific retailer to get new/replacement goods

If your overriding premise is not to spend more money and you have ordered the SSD just stick with it. If you haven't ordered then yeah you have a decision to make.
