MadEngineer: Good hardware, imho. I've only had to use their support once out of hundreds of their machines which was for a failed hard drive and that was repaired onsite on an m71. Shame about your experiences.

Yep, i agree, which is why i bought the thing...best notebook .

They have this walled off support department, and when they cannot help they get rid of you by saying they will speak to their manager and send an email.

Of course, they speak to their manager and send an email saying the part is not available.

It is impossible to actually get someone who can actually resolve the issue.

I think i'm going to have to go to the disputes tribunal , unfortunately.

I think you should. At least it ought to resolve the issue one way or the other. Either you lose, in which case you've given it your best shot, or Lenovo does, in which case it might be forced to up its game.

Where did you buy the notebook. In NZ ? online overseas retailer ?
If it was a parallel import sold by a certain NZ retailer ,then Lenovo dont really have to do squat .
If it was bought online overseas, you wont have many options or rights .

1st port of call is the NZ retailer .
CGA means you dont have to deal with Lenovo , you take it back to the retailer & say CGA
Its common for Retailers & importers to ignore/deny all there legal commitments under the CGA , you'll have to fight for your CGA rights.

I'd agree with Lenovo support
Next day onsite warranty : took 3 days for a tech to show. Next day, pfft

Lenovo sell through their NZ online store and have an office in wellington.  They are certainly bound by the terms of the CGA .

The frustrating thing, I cannot actually even speak to a manager who may have the ability to fix this.... and, i don't want to return the machine either, it is the best laptop i've ever owned.

Agree their support is trash, my wifes G570 had the internal hinges and was prone to the case cracking. it did crack, 6 months into owning it and they completely dodged the repair.....i would never go back to owning one again after that

I can only relate to them in a corporate aspect. They were absolutely useless not just with support but also with supply of product. As for personal use, never in a million years.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Did you actually buy your device through their online portal? It seems to me that your options are either: shipito.com the part to yourself from the US store or file a dispute with the disputes tribunal. It is pretty clear Lenovo NZ won't offer any help.

When they purchased IBM many years ago, people did seem to rate them highly. I have some Lenovo stuff, and even though the hardware looks dated and somewhat ugly, it seems to be reasonably well made and robust. But I have never had to deal with their supoort. But guessing it is the old call overseas centre problems.

Write their NZ manager or 'CEO' a 'letter that gets results'.  Consumer NZ has a template for it.
