The laptops you're posting so far are incredibly expensive for what you're getting (thanks AI). A MacBook is still a worthwhile look if you're not specifically running Windows only applications as it ticks all your boxes. I know you state you feel comfortable in Windows but right now you can get a whole lot more for your money in the Apple world

Out of curiosity I did look at a similar priced (to the yoga 7i I purchased) MacBook air from jbhifi & it didnt seem to blow the yoga out of the water, infact the yoga beat it in several areas such as the display & hard-drive capacity.

Id say the MacBook is quieter & better battery life but those types of things are trivial to me. :)

As you are coming from an older Windows laptop, i think you will be very impressed with the battery life of the Lenovo. Mine will do a full day of general web tasks and some photo editing. Probably not as good as a macbook, but the 200 and 300 series of intel cpu's are a lot better on the battery life than the older cpu's.

I would honestly recommend a MacBook Air.

Cheaper, great screens, really solid build quality, incredibly good battery life (~20hrs) and generate next to no heat and as it doesn't have a fan, no fan noise.

16gb of ram would be the bare minimum I'd recommend for Windows. 16gb of ram is plenty for MacOS (it tends to manage this far better). I use a M2 MacBook Air for work and this gets a whole lot of tasks thrown at it.

Sure, MacOS is a bit different than Windows but I feel you'll really like it. Apple have not raised their pricing with the ram shortage so you get more for less right now with them.

FWIW the new M5 MacBook Air just released on Apple Store NZ.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
