That's sort of in a different league isn't it? How much are they? It's not reallt in the netbook class, is it?

No not really but its still a extremely good smaller laptop, about $2000ish, I've had several netbooks and laptops within the last 2 years and this take the cake, size is brilliant, power is extraordinary (I actually have the 13" MacBook Pro not much difference though.)

Comparable models from different brands are practically all the same components.. the two most important criteria are feel of using the keyboard and price.

I recommend getting a feel for the keyboard in person at a store for any model you're interested in.

hellonearthisman: It doesn't have gigabit lan, that may not be important to you.

Not to worried about gigabit lan. mainly use wirless and im sure the one i can get has wirless N.

at the moment im just using standard wirless which is 54mbt ps thats 10 times faster than my internet and im the only one using the wirless so dont see much point in going any faster.

i did put alot of thought into that thought. thanks for pointing it out. one of those things for me where it would be nice to have but not neciceary. i was thinking last night maby i should wait for usb 3.0 standard to come out though. any one heard when that is supose to come out?

yup my thoughts as well. problem is where i live the stores dont have much of a range. if i order one in from my contact i prety much gota take it no returnzys.

most of what the local shops have are just garbage acers. they do have a couple of HP machines which i like but they had the moust buttons on the side of the pad rather than underneath i have used those type b4 and they are a pain in the back side

This seems like a pretty good deal if you're going to Tech Ed...

That's what I thought. I think I'll probably get it, looks like a reasonable netbook. Don't really like the wide bezel but other than that looks good. Do you know if you can just add the WWAN card later, or are antennae in the display panel only included in the applicable model? Also, I read about people having problems getting this model (un2400) to work on XT. Has a firmware for the card been issued by Telecom?

Most people going to Tech Ed already have access to any OS's they want via mdsn/partner/actionpack/technet/etc. The last MS event I went too (Launch Wave I think) they even gave out mutliple to free copies of Vista Ultimate to all attendees.

Basically I don't think the inclusion of Windows 7 with this netbook is very relevant given the audience if you are deciding whether to go for the offer.

Hell you're probably want to format it and clean install it as soon as you got it to get rid of hp bundled crapware.

~$699-799 for a 10" atom based netbook is fairly commonly available price if you look around at other brands.

Agreed - but I do know small developers that don't have MSDN/TechNet/BizzSpark. This is a good thing for them.

Also most of those cheap laptops are running the Intel Atom N270 - the Intel Atom N280 is much better, with faster performance. And yes, I believe the HP has a better final result than an ASUS or Toshiba. Tried using the keyboard on a Toshiba NB100 yet? It's horrible.

The 280 is 66mhz better clock speed and 33mhz better bus speed, fairly insignificant.

With the same specs? I'm happy to pay $699, and I like 2GB RAM, 320GB 7200RPM HDD, Bluetooth, "HD" screen. What other models should I be looking at?
