I had people commenting on problems with Sony and Palm and Pocket PC. And a long thread a couple of years ago because Sony said something to the lines of "we only support Bluetooth connections to Sony Clie devices. Anything different is not supported".

At the time a lot of people though it was support in terms of help desk, but they had some pages at the time saying this.

I would be confident in saying that what applied 2 years ago does not apply now. Maybe they took the comments on board?

mind you, he could always get an external bluetooth dongle, like I have.
$50 at dse it works without a glitch and I havent found something it doesnt support yet

That's what I've done with my Tablet PC - but instead of an external USB dongle I bought a CF Bluetooth card - with the CF-to-PC adapter it works well and it sits flush inside my Tablet PC.

Nice solution, that would be good on my ThinkPad, do you know if it will work adjacent to a Woosh PCMCIA card? Also, what did it cost you?

It should work just fine if you have the spare PC card slot. At the time it was a clearance on DSE, and I think it was something like under $20 for the Bluetooth CF card. I've posted this in my blog a few months ago.

The product is not available on DSE anymore. But you can still find other brands - try pccard.co.nz - this page lists the Socket Bluetooth CF card and a few pages later the Anycom.

The Anycom is cheaper. The Socket costs bit more though - way more than what I paid for my CF at DSE. But you can probably find other brands somewhere else - try Quay Computers if you are in Wellington, or ascent.co.nz.
