Yeh everything was backed up about a week ago when I had to reinstall due to severe sluggishness. (so bad that it wouldn't log me onto windows without being in safe mode)
Got laptop back yesterday, they replaced the HDD, no prob's. Went to install iTunes today, downloaded the 64bit version, it wouldn't run. Rebooted, tried again. Wouldn't run. Re-downloaded, wouldn't run. Checked computer properties, and now it says my system is 32bit.
How did they change it to 32 bit? Whenever I've done a system restore, its never given me the option. How would I get it back to 64? I have a lot of saved programs that are only 64bit so I can't run them.
I've only just found this topic, but thought the following needs to be clarified
A laptop is designed to be on your lap, and as such, there is no ventilation holes on the bottom of it A notebook uses the bottom for some of its ventilation, and as such, sitting it on your lap can cause it to overheat.
Hard drives are not made by HP/Compaq - they typically use Seagate, who are the biggest manufacturer of Hard Drives in the world - chances are, anything else you buy will also have a Seagate drive. Hard drives work the same as a record player (spinning disk with a moving arm), and are susceptible to damage if moved in the wrong direction while they are working - it is not recomended to move your computer while its turned on, as the unfortunate event of a shock greater that what it can handle can irreversibly damage the drive.
Reinstalled/imaged last night, took 3 hours to complete, then it had to download updates, then install the updates, reboot, install some more, reboot again, install more, then start normal. It just downloaded more updates so I'll turn it off well before I go to bed so it doesn't keep me up. See how long this HD lasts
