nathan: What happens when you lower your screen res in Display properties

That kinda negates the reason for paying more for the  "superior" screen

networkn, I was thinking about getting the X1 until they decided to make the caps lock half the size, and lack a dedicated insert button.

Have you considered the Asus UX301?

I had looked at it but earlier discarded it because of the 13" screen as I really wanted a 14/15 this time around. I think I may need to reconsider the 13" models. I don't think the Asus is in NZ is it?

Yep, Asus is in NZ but the UX301 is hard to get. Only the 512GB version is available which is quite expensive. I am considering BH Photo in the US.

My top 3 options:
Asus UX301
Toshiba Kirabook
HP Spectre 13

I am torn! Asus looks awesome but so expensive over the rest.

I have customers we have sold the Kira to, I wouldn't buy one for myself.

The Spectre for me is cheapest by some margin, if I bought the Asus overseas it's almost identical to the Asus in price by the time I factor warranty etc

The Spectre has a glossy screen, I can't see what the Asus has. I have not been impressed by Asus support in the past, but that was a few years back and it could be better now.

Problem with the Asus, I need to buy it blind, if I don't like the feel of it, it's a lot of money to have spent, though I could quite likely offload it for what I paid overseas for it I imagine.

hairy1: Is it that bad joker? Is it widespread across multiple programs?

Some video clips on the net are about 2inches by 1.5 inch if it is not coded to fill the screen

Adobe photoshop i can't read anything the fonts are microscopic

Remote desktop to my work the fonts are microscopic i can't read a thing

Some programs the fonts scale up but the boxes don't so you can't read anything as the buttons are not visible (these programs are rare)

Pain in thr arse. Wish i had bought one with a 1920/1080 screen instead of 3200/1600 which cost mycompany a bomb

Would you consider taking a photo logged into your remote desktop, as this is something I do a lot when out of the office. I LIKE small sharp text and I have perfect eyesight, but if it's really terrible that could be a potential reason to consider a 1900x1080 screen.

Also if possible a photo of the other effects. You are welcome to PM me if privacy is a concern.

I am thinking I might grab the Asus because it's so much cheaper. You are in Auckland right? You are welcome to come and take a look when I get back and if I hate it, you might be able to buy it :)

What makes you say no to the Kirabook? Just curious. The new Haswell version is out. Not sure if it still has single band wifi.
