When I was looking for a laptop at short notice for a friend all noels had was low spec junk. Same for dse.

No ssds at all and low res crap panels. I don't think you will find what you need there.

I would expect them to at least match the full HD screen.

Seems like they don't currently sell any with the 'hybrid' drives your old one had (small SSD for system files and rest spinning drive for media and other applications). You will notice a slower performance than old laptop without one.

Going from the Price High to Low filter on noel leeming, the cheapest that might be deemed equivalent could be

If you can compromise a little on screen size the Yoga 3 is nice  https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/computers/laptops/pc-notebook-computers/lenovo-80jh002pau-14-full-hd-touchscreen-convertible-notebook-silver/prod138909.html

If you demand an SSD to be equivalent for previous in regard to system boot time and responsiveness, the HP Envy at $2899 would be equivalent.

Thanks mate.

Doesn't say the $2899 has a SSD though?

Are you saying the $2899 model "makes up" so to speak for the lack of SSD?

Finch: NL/State have offered me the following..

https://www.noelleeming.co.nz/shop/computers/computers/laptops/pc-notebook-computers/hp-15-ab255tx-pavilion-15-6-silver-notebook/prod140627.html

Not going to take it,unless I have to for some reason.

No SSD (Lady on the phone said they don't make them with SSD's anymore....)
No BluRay Player (Admittely I haven't really seen this, they did offer me an external one)
Not HD Screen (My old Laptop had full HD screen, the least they could do would be to match it)
Poorer Processor than my old Laptop (I cant actually find anything on Intel I7-6500U?? . At least not on the quick look I had)

can you get payout of $1899-250?

Just rung NL back.

Spoke to somebody different and mentioned that the one they offered first up wasn't near equivalent. He agreed and said they will look into it and get back to me later.

I mentioned that apparently if NL doesn't have an equivalent model, I can get hold of State to get from somewhere else.

I didn't mention either of the two models that JonB suggested (I was looking at those 2 myself actually)

@Joker - I guess so. If they were willing to give me a $1999 laptop, im guessing they can do the $1899?

I thought it did at first, but it doesn't, which is crazy for a $3000 device.

Well they just gave me a ring back and they offered me the $1899. I accepted and they said they would throw in a External Blu-Ray player also, although I'm not expecting too much from that.

Might try and sell this Laptop, and get one from JB-Hifi which has better specs + cheaper anyway.

Thanks for all the replies + help folks.

I still have my HDD at home with me. I haven't yet got around to buying the enclosure to get the data off because I didn't have anywhere to move it to. I've been surviving with my HTC One M7 for close to a week now.

Just thought I would see what NL "Deals" were for this week and noticed the Laptop I will be getting tomorrow has been bought down to $1200 from $1900. Quite a saving now and that I feel is quite a good price really
