heavenlywild: ^same here, I would love to see some samples of the pain you go through with everyday programs.

No pain with any other programs apart from ones listed.

I am thinking I might grab the Asus because it's so much cheaper. You are in Auckland right? You are welcome to come and take a look when I get back and if I hate it, you might be able to buy it :)

Hi mate, definitely keen as to check it out. When are you due back? Will you get the one with Iris graphics?

I was looking at this:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EPGHFQC/ref=s9_simh_gw_p147_d0_i1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0RTJF9R6ZX1JG1FKRA8H&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=1688200382&pf_rd_i=507846

HD5100 graphics? Is that what you mean?

I am back in a couple of weeks.

hairy1: Is it that bad joker? Is it widespread across multiple programs?

Some video clips on the net are about 2inches by 1.5 inch if it is not coded to fill the screen

Adobe photoshop i can't read anything the fonts are microscopic

Remote desktop to my work the fonts are microscopic i can't read a thing

Some programs the fonts scale up but the boxes don't so you can't read anything as the buttons are not visible (these programs are rare)

Pain in thr arse. Wish i had bought one with a 1920/1080 screen instead of 3200/1600 which cost mycompany a bomb

Would you consider taking a photo logged into your remote desktop, as this is something I do a lot when out of the office. I LIKE small sharp text and I have perfect eyesight, but if it's really terrible that could be a potential reason to consider a 1900x1080 screen.

Also if possible a photo of the other effects. You are welcome to PM me if privacy is a concern.

I'm away for the weekend, too rough to bring my new laptop.

The easiest way is get a 15.6" laptop. Take a picture. Then scale it to a 3200/1600 layout. So if your screen is 1600/800 shrink your remote desktop grab such that it fills a quarter of your screen (ie 1600 pixels across a 3200 screen, 800 pixels down a 1600 screen is exactly a quarter of the size of a 1600/800 screen)

If you have photoshop or its siblings do the same to my suggestion above to scale your screen into a 3200/1600 and the font size will be what you get.

Those legacy programs that scale the fonts up such that the words don't fit in the app windows (fixed size cannot resize) are rare, i only had one s far.

Tell me your acreen size and i'll do the math for you. I beleive every company has set their remote desktop slightly differently so my remote desktop could be smaller than yours and hence yours might be ok. So even if i grabbed mine it only reflects my company's settings and may not apply to yours.

My desktop at the office is 2560x1440 and I'd normally RDP Lock it so it's running at 1900x1200 when I am connected remotely. (So I have no scroll bars etc).

My IT department is a dinosaur, if you can control the size of your remote desktop resolution you could make it work on a qhd. My IT does not allow us to touch their settings and it is configured for a 800x600 screen!

(I don't get to remote desktop to my personal profile, the server creates a remote profile with all my access, and the remote screen profile is fixed at 800x600) no, i don't argue with them, their standard answer is no, not possible.

I am the IT Dept :)

I think I'll get the Asus with the 1440P display and 13.3" screen and see how I go, if I hate it, I'll flick it and be done with it.
