My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.
joker97: What is the cheapest 13" haswell laptop under 1.4kg nowadays?
hairy1: I am still gutted at the lack of Haswell in the NZ market. Looking down the PB Tech list is just depressing.
I asked PB if they could get the UX302LA in and they could but were going to have to freight it from overseas.
We still seem to be stuck in Gen 3 ultrabook territory in NZ.
joker97: Wow they cost they same as my 15" 1.8kg powerhouse ... might have to stick with that for now

Looking through this thread and IME it seems we are being gouged a bit at the top end of most laptop ranges. I hypothesise that NZ is being treated as one of a backwater to ship end of line machines, which coincidently provides a market niche opportunity to charge more for the top end machines because of the pricing structure and lower volume and availability. Gah!

So true, agree with you.
That's why I am considering importing:

Considering ASUS has international warranty, this is a viable option.

Yep. I think you are right. Standard stuff is priced about right. Top of the line stuff is gouged. Maybe it is a volume thing.... Kiwi's buy loads of midrange stuff but very little high range stuff.
