If Microsoft let you keep it, I know where you could send it to replace the RT version ;)

No, this is not to keep, I am afraid.

I really, really want one of these, or the pro version. Ant ideas on if I should wait and see if the price comes down on one or the other? I want the pen, too.

I hardly use the pen with my Pro.

IN saying that I use my Pro as a lightweight laptop, a-la Macbook Air, so maybe my usage model isn't typical of the average Surface user.

Personally, I think the lower price of the Surface 3 is what will encourage people to buy, then they will start on the accessories, much like people do with iDevices...so it's not unreasonable to expect people to pay additional money for the pen and the keyboard and the docking station...in my opinion

Your reseller will quite happily bundle a pen into the price for you.

What is the question? :)

Yes if you wait prices drop

Yes if you wait, there is always something new around the corner

But you have a need for one now?

You should be able to work a retailer to get discount etc

Just look at Noels this weekend (Anzac weekend) they had $250 gift card for purchase over $899.
Now if one was being smart (like i would have if i did not already have a surface pro 3) would be to purchase a surface 3 for $959 for release on the 5th may.  Then when you go to pick it up use the $250 gift card for keyboard and pen :P

This could be a handy hint if they have the $250 again on Queens birthday weekend, just remember however that it will need to be 2 transactions, 1 for the surface, then use the gift card for the extras

If you want the better device buy the Commercial version not retail

Commercial resellers are Acquire.co.nz, Cyclone, Datacom, Spark Digital or The Laptop Company

These Surface 3 devices have minimum 4GB RAM instead of 2 and Windows 8.1 Pro not Windows 8.1

They are also eligible for a 4 year warranty and Advanced Exchange if something goes wrong (forward replacement) rather than having to send the device back to us first.

Thankyou very much for that offer really appreciated unfortunately I am experiencing a bad flare up so I am too medicated to drive or move around too much. Will try to get to our local HN
if things settle down soon.

Keen to see these in action - staff have been pressuring for tablets for a  long time and I've held them back waiting for the tech capability and the price to start meeting my budget. LTE would be great as we're 2 degrees and have data-only SIMs just looking for a home.

Concerns:
-the nickel-and-diming add-on cost of the accessories will make these unfeasible
-How rugged are they?
-Can you build them from the network with an Ethernet adapter or from the dock?

That is unfortunate. Sorry to hear you aren't well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I'll see what I can find, thanks for the heads up. I have a number of customers interested in these.
