Yes, options:

1. Best
Surface Pro + two DP1.2 daisy-chain capable monitors (with or without Surface Dock)
For Daisy Chaining - First display in the chain has both a DP1.2 input and DP1.2 output
Does not require all displays to be DP1.2 i.e. the last monitor in the chain does not need to support this

2. Best but 2 monitors max
Surface Pro + Surface Docking Station (connect one monitor to the dock and one to the device - the innovative Dock design leaves the Mini DisplayPort and USB 3.0 port on your device available for use when docked)

3. up to 3 monitors
Surface Pro + DP1.2 Multi-Stream Transport (MST) Hubs (with or without Surface Dock)
Divides up and routes video streams independently to each display
Support for mixed display configurations, i.e. VGA, DVI, HDMI as well as DisplayPort

4.
DisplayLink video over USB.  I don't recommend this at all, but go for it if DisplayLink is your thing. (i.e. Impact on CPU performance (around 10% due to compression taking place on CPU, not GPU)

Surface Pro 3 can support a single external display of up to 4096x2304 @ 24Hz. The i5 and i7 variants can support up to two external displays of up to 2880 x 1800 @ 60 Hz each, and three displays (internal display is off) of up to 1920 x 1200 @ 60Hz each.

mDP1.2 is the best and you should consider future proofing with mDP1.2 or ideally mDP1.2a monitors
Or consider widescreen monitors that provide the same viewable area as 2 normal monitors so you don't need multimon

Why DP is because it supports daisychaining thru a single cable and higher resolutions, ie 3840 x 2160 + 2880 x 1800 + 1920 x 1200

who if any are the distributors selling the surface device - not just surface accessories

would probably sell quite a few of the surface range  to customers if any of my current distributors had them (ingram synnex sektor etc etc)

I've looked at Acquire's website several times and they consistently have stock showing:

thanks for the list, can i ask why Ingram is not able to sell the surface directly to [Ingram] customers - curious why you would do this.

I too am very curious.

I can understand why you may want to restrict who can sell it at a consumer level, but for business customers this makes no sense.

I wouldn't even consider offering it to my customers If it is not available though my wholesale channels, unless my client has a very specific requirement for one. This alone must impact Microsoft's sales greatly, we tell the business what to buy after all!

This is exactly it, all my customers are business customers,  i could have probably sold a Microsoft surface variant a dozen + times in the last few years, but not available to all my main distributors, so went with a another brand.

that's great you went with another brand, we are about selling Windows and Windows partner OEM devices, not Surface.
Its awesome that customers have choice and there is a wide selection of business-ready Windows devices out there.

If an end user wants to buy a Surface of course they will find a way.

We have a closed reseller channel model for Surface *currently*, but I Have pointed out how you can obtain the product with margin still left in it for you to make money off.

I was given a Surface 3 as an early birthday preset by my fantastic wife over the weekend. First impressions? absolutely fantastic, I had a Surface RT when first released and the Surface 3 is so...so much better. Ease of use with my disabilities, no problems
Love the machine, its one step closer to an all MS/Windows ecosystem.

My one gripe with the Surface 3 is that some types of Micro-SD cards dismount all by themselves, usually when the device is sleeping.  After doing considerable research on this problem, it goes all the way back to the Surface RT, but some types of cards are worse than others, particularly the larger capacity ones.  Well-known brands like SanDisk are also known to suffer from this problem, but older small capacity devices are often fine.  I have a 128GB 'Lexar' card which I got from Noel Leeming, but only use it occasionally as a picture archive, so it's not a big deal for me.  I can get it going again by removing and reinserting the card whiile power is on, so not too big a problem really.  It would be nice if it was fixed though.

I haven't noticed that on my Surface 3 yet. I did get it with my  old Surface RT using a Scandisk. I currently have a cheapie ( Strontium) in my Surface 3 and it hasn't had any issues.
