I really want the touch Kindle. Went to DSE and the only ones they sell, the Kindle keyboard and entry series 4 seem so old fashioned. I kept hitting the screen expecting it to do something. Duh! That behaviour is now too entrenched with Iphones, Ipads and android tablets we have at home. So went to Whitcoulls and liked the touch but didn't like the text crispness on the Kobo. Saw a Sony touch unit who's text was terrible and flashed every time a page turned- yeucchh! So what to do? well, I was googling away thinking there must be a way to do this, came upon this website:
http://buykindle.bestcomputerguides.com/2011/09/buy-amazon-kindle-touch-in-new-zealand/
Decided that I'd give this a go- so to all you Kiwis desperate to find a way to get this product, I'm your test dummy!
For how it works refer to this web page:

What Ive done so far:
1. Registered with one of the freight forwarders. I used: http://www.comgateway.com
2. Clicked on Geekzone's Amazon ordering Link (you still get your 6%!) and ordered the "Kindle Touch 3G, Free 3G + Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Display - includes Special Offers & Sponsored Screensavers"
3. put the US address the forwarders gave me into the delivery section - ACCEPTED by Amazon
4. Paid US$149 + Freight (local frieght in US is cheaper- about US$6)
5. I am now awaiting my Kindle to arrive in the US warehouse (est. 5 Dec), where the forwarder will forward to Singapore warehouse and inform me to pay the next part of the freight from singapore to NZ.
All up should be about NZ$250... same price as the Kobo Touch at Whitcoulls but way better product!
Wish me luck, Ill update progress.
