When I synchronise my Nokia 6255 phone to Outlook Express 2003, and then look at the mobile phone number in the Contacts list, the default setting is to set the area code to the first numbers of the phone number, but only for 7 digit numbers. ie 027 123 4567 becomes (02) 7123 4567, yet 027 123 456 becomes 027123456. So, when synchronising back to the phone, the 7 digit number suddenly turns to +640271234567 which cant be used in the Telecom phone system.
Why does Outlook set its numbers like this? Is there a way to assign the number as a number without an area code?

[Moderator (MF): moved to Telecom forum, Nokia 6255 is not a Symbian smartphone]

Don't blame Outlook, yet. How is your configuration on this PC? Have you entered the correct country and area code? Check in the Control Panel | Modems if you have the correct country and area code. This will set some stuff. There's no settings in Outlook for that.

As for the rest of the translation, you say it look ok in Outlook, and the +64 is added when going back to the phone. It makes me thing that it could be something on the Nokia software?
